General Music Finds at the Dollar Store

These are things that I am using or that I have picked up to have in my classroom from Dollar Tree:

Fun-shaped Fly Swatters

Great for hitting answers during a game or activity.


You Rock! Notes

Great for words of encouragement or letting kids know how awesome they are.


Reusable Mini Containers

Use them for EVERYTHING! Keeping mini erasers, dice, bingo tokens, literally so many uses.

Word Swatter

Used during a game I call ‘Swat That Note!’ I also use them for hitting words, answers


Classroom Digit Pointer

Great for steady beat – anything to get students involved in the lesson!


Dry Erase Paddle

Perfect for individual student reviews, games, and check for understanding, I use mine for so many activities!

Other Items & Ideas

  • Resealable Play Dough 6 Count: Great for students to make notes and rhythm patterns.
  • Snack-Sized baggies: I use these for everything. They come in super handy if students have broken bracelets or necklaces too.
  • Yarn: I am always using yarn for lessons, activities and games. Not to mention some of my bulletin boards!
  • Balls: These are a must for your classroom! We use bouncy balls to play games as well as toss them to students when it’s their turn to answer. So many uses!
  • Fringe Backdrop: These are great to have for music programs or special events decorations – I use these to hang from my ceiling. They come in lots of colors and the smaller ones are great for bulletin boards or desk décor
  • Hats! Perfect for costumes and props for musicals
  • Beads: Great to have on hand for rewards, props, or dress-up days.
  • Buzzers: Perfect attention-getters or playing team games in class.
