Nisha Feik

Nisha Feik is an Australian educator of more than 3 decades who currently works at Melbourne company Cultural Infusion helping to develop intercultural resources for teachers and provide training sessions for them.  She has been supporting others to include music from around the world in the classroom for many years. From 2003 – 2007, she was company director of World Beat Learning, creating, importing, selling and shipping resources for music teachers to promote cultural competency.

Her driving passion for music shines through in everything she does. A classically trained pianist with Music and Master of Education degrees from the University of Melbourne, she then learned to play the drum kit in her ‘50’s and is currently enjoying being a choir member with Melbourne Indie Voices, who specialise in singing independent popular songs.

She has presented a 1-hour session at the International Society for Music Education World Conference https://ismeworldconference.org/ entitled “A Blended Learning Approach to Intercultural Understanding”. Combining traditional teaching approaches such as singing songs and using rhythm games to understand music from several different cultures with accessing the online music arranging platform Sound Infusion featuring recordings from over 100 countries, her session provided stimulating ideas for teachers attending.
