Kayleigh Parker graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music with teacher’s licensure (K-12th grade, instrumental concentration) with a minor in community health and a teaching endorsement in health education (9th-12th grade) from Eastern Illinois University in December of 2014. Kayleigh also holds an endorsement as a Librarian Information Specialist (PreK-12th grade). Kayleigh considers herself to be a lifelong student and always looks for ways to become a better educator. To that end, she has earned a basic certificate in early childhood at Illinois Central College, has received Early Childhood Education (Level 2) and School Age and Youth Development (Level 5) credentials through Gateways to Opportunity, and completed the Drumtastic online course to become a Drums Alive Basic Instructor. Kayleigh has been teaching for eleven years in rural public school districts in Illinois and is currently the primary school music/band teacher at Midwest Central CUSD 191. Kayleigh is involved with several professional organizations and does summer camps in her area. Kayleigh has written articles for Music ConstructED and was involved with the Teacher Advisory Group for Music Workshop. Kayleigh enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Jonathan, and their daughter, Victoria.
