Hannah Yang

My name is Hannah Yang and I am currently an elementary orchestra teacher in the ICCSD. I grew up on a farm just south of Iowa City (near Sharon Center, IA, about 15 min from Iowa City) and began learning the violin at just 3 years of age. At 5 years I started piano lessons, voice at 9 and viola at age 10! I began teaching when I was 14 years old and my first violin student was deaf. Since then I have had a passion for working with students with disabilities, students of low economic status and all students with a passion for music! I also had an opportunity to learn the basics of cello and double bass during high school. In 2016 I graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in violin performance and K-12 music education with an emphasis in orchestra. I also have violin Suzuki training through book 7, Orff Level 1, and have attended numerous workshops and conferences. I have taught PK-6 general music, K-2 music appreciation, elementary band, private violin and string lessons to all ages, and elementary orchestra.
