Marty Lenard, Ph.D. is the Director of Fine Arts for New Braunfels ISD in Texas. Before working in fine arts administration, Lenard was Assistant Professor of Music in the Division of Visual and Performing Arts at Schreiner University where he received the Faculty Service Award and the Elmore Whithurst Award for Creative Teaching. Lenard received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music education from Texas State University and a Ph.D. in Instrumental Music Education from Auburn University. Lenard’s research focused on programming trends of ensembles and the relationship between poverty on access to music education and competition.
During his tenure in Texas public schools, Lenard was the Director of Bands for Tivy High School in Kerrville ISD and was a semifinalist for the HEB Young Teacher of the Year award. In 2020, Lenard was named “40 under 40” by the Kerr Economic Development Corporation. Lenard also served from 2018 to 2021 as a Board of Trustee for the Kerrville Independent School District and a board member of the fine arts non-profit Big Seed. Lenard has been an active conductor in the Texas Hill Country area working with the First Presbyterian Church Kerrville, Playhouse 2k, and the Fredericksburg Theater Company.
